Gonzatti Tablet

It takes its name from a marble plaque that was cemented into the rock that was placed in memory of Dario Gonzatti, pioneer of diving in 1947. Unfortunately, the plaque was carried away by the fury of the sea during the storm of 2018. In the photo you can still see its headquarters.

RED PATH (up to -40 meters)
Once moored and performed a pre-dive check we will be ready to descend. Given that the buoy is quite far from the Promontory, if the visibility is excellent we will be able to descend following the chain visually, if it is poor it will be decidedly safer to go down the wall and take a reference point at -6 meters for the return.
Arrived at a depth of -22 meters near the dead body of the buoy, we will fin with the wall on our left until we meet a wall rich in coral that reaches -40 meters. Following its course at -36 meters, the entrance to a large passage with several ravines will open up where we will be able to see the antennae of the lobsters and the gnats. Once we exit at -30 meters we will continue to climb in altitude swimming among numerous boulders arranged all around and the huge brown groupers that enter and exit their burrows. Continuing towards the EAST wall on the left we will arrive next to the dead body of the SCOGLIO DEL RAVIOLO buoy at -17 meters, where a school of snappers swims around the chain.
It’s time to go back to the boat. We will follow the course of the wall by keeping it to our right, swimming among shoals of black seabream, bream, damselfish and even 2 sea bass usually swimming in the first meters of water.
Reviewing the large boulders where we had previously descended, we will stop for our stop of 3 mn to -5 m. If we don’t see the chain we will safely exit next to the wall.

Arriving at -18 meters with the wall on our left and leaving the large boulders behind us, we will fin on the plateau zigzagging among the numerous rocks arranged along the entire route where the huge brown groupers enter and leave their burrows. Continuing towards the EAST wall on the left we will arrive next to the dead body of the SCOGLIO DEL RAVIOLO buoy at -17 meters, where a school of snappers swims around the chain. How big!
