Mohawk Deer

This Canadian merchant ship sank in front of Cala degli Inglesi on November 6, 1967.
The ship on November 5 of that year left the port of Genoa towed by a tugboat bound for La Spezia to be scrapped, but a violent leeway broke the cable that pulled it and her race ended up against the rocks of the Portofino Promontory. .
After the storm of 2018, the wreck underwent evident structural changes. The bow collapsed on itself, the winch was damaged, the anchor (HALL type) entered with the diamond and part of the 2 marre inside the bow hull.

RED PATH (up to -40 meters)
After the pre-dive check we can begin the descent to discover the wreck.
Arrived at -22 meters where the dead body of the buoy is positioned, we could already glimpse its shape. With the wall on the right we will arrive in front of the bow, collapsed on itself with the winch that has the 2 wheels deformed and no longer aligned, one of which has completely detached from its seat.
Continuing to fin we will turn outside the wreck with the wall on the right to see the large HALL anchor, typical of large ships. Now is the time to descend along the hull entering, at about -25 meters, the starboard hold which has large openings in the upper part and therefore easy and safe penetration.
Once at -40 meters we will leave the hold and follow the starboard side covered with sponges and gorgonians to our left. At -30 meters we will detach from the main body to reach the section that constituted the control cabin, which is stationed between -30 meters and -25 meters. The seabed is littered with debris where moray eels, conger eels and groupers have created their burrows.
After a short visit and 2 photos of the beautiful sponges and gorgonians, it is time to go up and reach the plateau where we will continue the left wall at a depth of -14 meters until we meet a winch consisting of two beams that form a triangle. From this point with the wall on the right, at an altitude of -12 meters, we will begin to return to the vicinity of the boat. Our attention is drawn to a huge wrench placed among the rocks.
After a few minutes a gigantic boulder indicates that we are near the buoy. Around groupers, snappers, corvine, white breams follow one another without stopping. Before going back up we will be able to cross a short passage between 2 large boulders a little further on at about -10 meters. then return to the left wall and end the dive.

GREEN PATH (up to -18 mt)
After the pre-dive check we can begin the descent to discover the wreck, visually following the chain.
Arrived at -18 meters we can already see its shape. Finning with the wall on the right we will make a turn around the bow collapsed on itself with the winch that has the 2 deformed wheels and no longer aligned, one of which has completely detached from its seat.
Continuing to fin we will turn outside the wreck with the wall on the right to see the large HALL anchor, typical of large ships.
We will continue to the left wall leaving the wreck behind us to view the countless debris scattered everywhere, under which groupers, moray eels, conger eels have created their burrows.
Continuing in the same direction, at a depth of -14 meters, we will see the remains of a winch consisting of two beams that form a triangle. From this point with the wall on the right, at an altitude of -12 meters, we will begin to return to the vicinity of the boat. Our attention is drawn to a huge wrench placed among the rocks.
